Beyond the Camp (BTC) provides educational resources to refugee children in the Nakivale refugee camp in Uganda, Africa. Help us build a school and give these children a chance for a better life.
As of 2021, BTC are in talks with camp officials and seeking the permits to build an elementary school in Nakivale.
Over 100,000 refugees from more than ten countries live in the Nakivale Settlement Camp, one of the largest and oldest settlements for displaced persons in the world. Conditions are harsh and educational resources are limited. Most children go without schooling. There is one elementary school and one secondary school supported by the United Nations, but more often community leaders in the camps teach students in informal classrooms held under the shade of a tree or in tents.
